The new Disney movie is all about the Sleeping Beauty story from Maleficents perspective, the true story as Maleficent says. From the trailers we learn that Maleficent used to be a fairy with large wings and that somehow her wings were taken from her. It seems that Maleficent is seeking revenge on Auroras parents and that is the reason why she places the curse. It also looks like Maleficent may actually develop a friendship with Aurora!
